Ashtanga Yoga Courses for Beginners

Beginners Level 1

This is an ideal starting point if you have never done any yoga or are returning after a long break. Join us on our 8 week Beginners Yoga course, introducing the Ashtanga sequence, its concepts and benefits for health and overall fitness. Yoga will help to calm the mind and increase your mental abilities. We will look at how yoga can help you to de-stress, lose weight and prevent disease by consistent practice. You will learn basic yoga poses, sun salutations, standing yoga postures. We will also look at breathing exercises and enjoy a deep relaxation in each session to benefit the whole body. It slowly takes you through the basics with lots of practice and variations given to suit all levels.

We recommend you taking the BEGINNER PLUS package and start practicing 3 times per week for best results. The course is based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga sequence, a dynamic form of yoga that focuses on breathing and stretching.

Covered: Basic Ujjayi breathing, foundations, standing poses.
Recommended Supplementary Classes: Ashtanga Level 1 & 2, Moon Sequence, Warm Flow, Sivananda, Hatha and Mysore.

Beginners Level 2

The perfect follow-up to Beginners 1. We will continue to practice flowing through the Ashtanga Standing postures and then move deeper into the first part of the seated postures. Similar to the Beginners 1 course, the new postures will be broken down step by step along with variations for each position, which allow anyone to work effectively with the postures. This class is 15 minutes longer than Beginners 1 as we start to build the sequence towards the Full Primary Series.

Covered: Full Standing Poses, Start of the Seated Poses, Start of the Finishing Sequence.
Recommended Supplementary Classes: Ashtanga Level 1 & 2, Moon Sequence, Warm Flow, Hot Flow, Sivananda, Hatha and Mysore.
